On Wednesday afternoon the 9th of October a Norwegian national Mr. Haakon Halvorsen aged 46 appears to have jumped to his death from his 6th floor room at the Centre Condo in South Pattaya.
Police and a rescue unit from The Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation was called to the scene at the back of the condominium which adjoins Wat Chai Monkol and is opposite the fresh food market on South Pattaya Road. Mr. Halvorsen had sustained multiple broken limbs and a broken neck and appears to have died probably instantly in the fall.
Police interviewed Miss Chanchanak aged 35 from Sakon Nakhon Province, the girlfriend of the deceased who had been notified by telephone by a friend after the incident had occurred and had come immediately back to the condo.
She said that she had been with Mr. Halvorsen for about six weeks and that he had asked her to leave the condo a few days before and go back to work. She said that he was a merchant seaman back home but was having a lot of problems with his job and family back in Norway. Here in Pattaya he was not in good health and seemed to be very depressed.
The Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok have been informed of the death of one of it's national and Mr Halvorsen's body has been sent to hospital for a full post mortem to be carried out.
